Using In Line Skates to Stay In Skiing Shape

Do you love to go snow skiing?  I do too.  But I also love sunshine sports, specifically inline (rollerblading) skating, and roller skating. Hi, I’ m Donna Webber and I wanted to show you snow birds that there is an alternative sport that will help keep your legs and your skiing form in shape until the next skiing season arrives.  Inline skating is a great way to exercise the same muscles that you use for snow skiing because you can perform the same movements you use to ski on your blades.  The ride might feel different, but the movement will be very familiar.  Yes, there will be a learning curve but for most people, the adjustment will probably be quick because you already have balance and you are already used to bending your knees and keeping your chin up.  You can also pretend you have poles in your hand and keep the same movement for balance as well.  There is one big issue that you will have to overcome and that is how to stop.  But just like skiing, practice makes perfect. You will probably not like the safety gear that you really should wear but you will get used to it just as you do the bulky clothes necessary to keep you warm.  But, since you are an outdoors man (so to speak), you will appreciate the benefits skating has to offer like being in the sun, lighter clothes, movement under your feet, using the skate edges to do fun moves, and being able to skate in the streets or on the sidewalks. So check it out and consider inline skating as an alternative for the summer. In Line Skating Using Skiing Movement.

About the Author

I am a restless sole. I can't seem to relax and take it easy. I have endless energy and always find something to do. But when I finally sit down in the evening, I don't want to get back up. My interests are diversified as I am almost equally left and right brained so I am creative and methodical which has proven to be pretty dangerous. It is important for me to be in pleasant surroundings so I really enjoy working with my hands and doing home improvements. I have extensive computer and office experience and I have recently obtained a Skate Instructor Certification for roller skating and roller blading. I am also dabbling in acting and modeling and have an array of roller blading and exercise videos on my Youtube channel. I also promote being a vibrant and exciting person at every age. So, although most of my writing may be about skating, I will also throw in some thoughts on aging and how to defy it. Just because we grow older, doesn't mean we have to grow old!
