Skating Lessons Offer

Hi Everybody!  I have an idea that I want to share and see what you think.  I know that there are a lot of areas that don’t have skate instructors and many people would really like a lesson before they venture out into the world of movement under their feet.  So, I am thinking maybe I could be a traveling instructor.  Sound good?  Yes it does but there is “work” that will need to be done on your part.  Oh…now it doesn’t sound so good, huh?  Well maybe it won’t be that hard but in order for me to come to you, I need your help with the coordinating and arranging.  I don’t know you yet so I don’t know that you need me.  So, if you get enough friends and family together that are willing to share expenses to help get me there (or maybe you can do fund raisers), then I can come and give instructions.  Sounds easy right?  Not so fast.  Now we need a place to do the class and that might mean getting approval from the owner of the location.  It can be a parking lot, a park, a lot that is vacant, or maybe a business that is willing to allot some space for the class. If you can get these things done, I will come.  Now here is my problem.  I need enough money to cover the flight, hotel, if I need one, transportation to and from the airport to the hotel, and my pay. Flights are going up but hotel prices seem to be going down.  I don’t have to stay in a 4 star hotel, just one that is clean and in a safe area.  So all of these variables will determine the amount of money needed to get me there. Of course I will do my best to help you make it happen.

Now, for the size of the class, I would prefer no more than 10 people and actually more like 5 per class.  If I need to do more than one class in a day, I don’t have a problem with that.  In fact I would prefer it that way.  Each class will be about 90 minutes and it will cover everything you need to know as a beginner from wearing your gear properly to learning to stride on skates to learning the proper way to stop.  It will be mandatory that every person have a pair of skates and their safety gear which is a helmet, and knee, elbow and hand guards.  No exceptions!

There is no limit to the possibilities.  It can be for a school, a fitness center, a park, you name it.  It will depend on the person or the organization that wants to put in the time to make it happen. Again, I will work with you the best I can because my mission is to help people learn how to skate the proper way.

And yes, this can be inline skating or roller skating.  I can teach both at the same time because the skating form is the same, it is the stopping that is different and that I can differentiate when illustrating how to stop.

I will also consider travelling for private lessons.

So feel free to email me if this is something that you think you want to arrange at dmw@donnamariewebber.com.  Lets make it work and get rolling!  Donna

About the Author

I am a restless sole. I can't seem to relax and take it easy. I have endless energy and always find something to do. But when I finally sit down in the evening, I don't want to get back up. My interests are diversified as I am almost equally left and right brained so I am creative and methodical which has proven to be pretty dangerous. It is important for me to be in pleasant surroundings so I really enjoy working with my hands and doing home improvements. I have extensive computer and office experience and I have recently obtained a Skate Instructor Certification for roller skating and roller blading. I am also dabbling in acting and modeling and have an array of roller blading and exercise videos on my Youtube channel. I also promote being a vibrant and exciting person at every age. So, although most of my writing may be about skating, I will also throw in some thoughts on aging and how to defy it. Just because we grow older, doesn't mean we have to grow old!
