Different Skates for Different Functions

Many people don’t realize how diversified In line skates can be.  You think you can buy an expensive pair of skates and they should be able to do pretty much everything you want – right?  Well you couldn’t be further from the truth.  In line skating is as diversified as any other sport.  You have slalom skating, trick skating, recreation skating, extreme skating, and speed skating. I had a viewer who was having trouble deciding on which skate and wheel size to buy to suit his wants and needs.  So he came to me for help.  I am not an expert on the different types of skates yet, so I asked an expert, my instructor – Trish Alexander, and here is what she had to say. “Slalom skating should be done in about 76 or 74 mm wheels and yes Rollerblade Twister or SEBA skates are an excellent choice. However, Slalom skating requires a very short frame and rockered wheels; front and back are 72mm and two middle wheels are 76mm. 100mm wheels are for going straight, trail/speed skating. They are not a recreational skate. The frame is too long and rigid. Recreational skates generally have about 78-82mm wheels and are a good halfway to allow you to still trail skate and play around.”  She did not mention Extreme skates as that is a whole new arena.  One that I don’t normally cover and always refer to an Extreme skater expert.

So for those of you who are looking to buy new skates, it is important that you know how you plan to use them so you can make the right choice.  However, if you already have skates that don’t seem to fit this criteria, and yet they seem to suit your needs just fine, don’t fret.  It just means that you are able to work with what you have and now know why they don’t always do what you want them to do.

Today, I will be uploading a new video on a new product that I am trying that is actually not an in line skate.  So if you are not a subscriber, please go to my www.youtube.com/donnamariewebber channel and hit the subscribe button so you will get all of my new videos to come. About the Author

I am a restless sole. I can't seem to relax and take it easy. I have endless energy and always find something to do. But when I finally sit down in the evening, I don't want to get back up. My interests are diversified as I am almost equally left and right brained so I am creative and methodical which has proven to be pretty dangerous. It is important for me to be in pleasant surroundings so I really enjoy working with my hands and doing home improvements. I have extensive computer and office experience and I have recently obtained a Skate Instructor Certification for roller skating and roller blading. I am also dabbling in acting and modeling and have an array of roller blading and exercise videos on my Youtube channel. I also promote being a vibrant and exciting person at every age. So, although most of my writing may be about skating, I will also throw in some thoughts on aging and how to defy it. Just because we grow older, doesn't mean we have to grow old!
